Ants...

No matter what I do, every year I have the same problem with ants. I usually make sure to keep crumbs and dishes, counters and my whole kitchen clean, but somehow these little demons figure out ways in which to get in a aggravate me entirely. I have found a solution in which it has a double life. I make my own cleaners as I would love to be able to breath without thinking I am dying or want harmful chemicals in my house around my kids, so therefor. I make a vinegar, water, soap cleaner. Which is just a mixture I have NEVER measured out of a little more than half a spray bottle of vinegar, probably around 1-2 Tbsp of dawn dish soap, the blue original (which has tons of different uses other than just washing dishes) and the rest fill with water. I use this to clean my counters my tables, my walls when everything is going wrong and food ends up in odd places. I even use this to clean my mirrors and windows.

My kids think it smells horrible but when compared to most other cleaners they swear they'd rather smell that stinky vinegar. It even gets out stains. I.E. my kids love to be grown and I encourage them to do things on their own but sometimes they have slips ups and spills, one instance was when my 10-year-old tried to pour some juice from a full gallon jug he spilt some onto the table, rather than telling me he just covers it up with a plate. Needless to say, it stays there until I gather up dishes later that evening and I find this red sticky dried up stain on my table. I immediately grab my cleaner and I honestly didn't think it was going to get this out, but I sprayed and let it sit for just a few seconds, and wiped away the red. Now, he makes sure to tell me from now own to keep from having a stained up or smelly kitchen.

Uh-oh, I've been rambling talking about how great vinegar cleaner is rather than about the intention of this post. Anyway, ants in the kitchen, I know the whole borax and sugar stuff, but with having kids that forget why things are where and if they're okay or not and something like that sitting on my bar is just something I would rather not deal with. So, What I do is if I find this little buggars in the house I grab my vinegar cleaner. This stuff KILLS ants. not on contact but after a minute or two they are dead like, completely dead and the best part is that once I find them spray them and let them pass on I wipe them up spray once more and back to being super clean. So, if you want a cleaner and a killer which is both safe and cheap for your family I'd suggest trying out this vinegar spray.

Next time I'll tell you about my stain remover/freshener for EVERYTHING.

Coffee Sugar Scrub

I know I know, I've been away too long. I promise I will keep up now.

Today I'm going to give away this awesome recipe for a body scrub. It gets off old dead skin and also revitalizes your body afterwards. I am absolutely in love with this scrub and try to use it at least once a week if not more if I feel that I really need it.

So what I do is I take one cup give or take of coconut oil, the same brand from my tanning oil. I mix it with my mixer until it gets all soft frothy and thick. Then I mix in 10 drops of peppermint essential oil, I use the NOW brand. Add in the coffee and sugar then mix it another couple of minutes with the mixer. I have a small ice tray that I use only for these scrub cubes and usually one is all I need. I leave them in the freezer indefinitely just in a freezer safe zipper bag once they have formed the cube shape and I get them out around 5-10 minutes before I get into the shower.

So just to go back over.

-1 cup coconut oil
-1/2 cup coffee
-1/4 cup sugar
- 10 drops of peppermint oil

I have tried adding in lavender essential oil to, with use before bed in the shower if you would like those but do not mix a coconut smelling coconut oil with lavender the smell is very... Different, and not in a good way.

These are by far the best body scrubs I have used, and not because I made them but because I would rather have something I know the ingredients of rubbing my skin and how amazing the benefits of both coffee and coconut oil are for the skin. :)

--I promise I will add a picture of a couple of mine later.
